WebNov 11, 2024 · The non-binary BCH codes are different from the binary codes in that they can operate on multiple bits errors rather than individual bits. These codes are based on Galois fields, where arithmetic operations on field elements have a result within the field. WebI am trying to construct a binary cyclic code of length 257 with rate strictly greater than 1 2 and distance 18 or more. I read about general BCH codes and implemented it. The multiplicative order of 2 modulo 257 is 16. So, I realize GF ( 2 16) as GF ( 2) [ t] / ( t 16 + t 5 + t 3 + t 2 + 1). I choose a 257 -primitive root of unity in GF ( 2 16).

One of the key features of BCH codes is that during code design, there is a precise control over the number of symbol errors correctable by the code. In particular, it is possible to design binary BCH codes that can correct multiple bit errors. See more In coding theory, the Bose–Chaudhuri–Hocquenghem codes (BCH codes) form a class of cyclic error-correcting codes that are constructed using polynomials over a finite field (also called Galois field). … See more There are many algorithms for decoding BCH codes. The most common ones follow this general outline: 1. Calculate the syndromes sj for the received vector 2.
