WebIt is uncommon for correctional institutions to have adequate access to inpatient psychiatric care for inmates who need it [3]. But it is nevertheless ethical for physicians to practice in such institutions for various reasons. It gives them the opportunity to provide treatment and mitigate some of the negative impact of insufficient resources.
