Attempting to make them behave similarly to their non-autistic peers is only going to teach them that you love them when they’re not being themselves. I attended a few lectures on pill swallowing and learned how to teach this skill. Coupled with my nursing background, I have been successful in teaching kids with autism to swallow pills, including Lucas.
